Downtown Angola, Indiana. The heartbeat of Steuben County and the crossroad of US 20 and State Rd. 127 possesses a unique charm. Our current architecture dates back to the 1800’s with it’s distinctive Public Square. It’s most prominent feature is our Civil War Monument located on in the center of the Square. It was erected in 1917 to honor the sacrifices of those in who served from Steuben County. The surrounding statues represent branches of the military and on top stands Columbia holding a laurel wreath with her outstretched hand toward the east.
Trine University, located within walking distance of Angola’s Public Square, is a private, university and was ranked by U.S. News and World Report as one of the midwest’s best colleges in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
